sas-aesthetics | Dr M Saleki | Platelet Rich Plasma | PRP | Harley Street | London

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contains high concentrations of platelets. These cells stimulate the release of growth factors which result in tissues’ rapid healing and cellular repair. Tissue that is aged and damaged usually reflects poor texture, wrinkles, sagging and an uneven skin tone. Patients that want a natural appearance are opting for PRP as an effective natural treatment to boost tissue and collagen stimulation.

How does it work?

A sample of your own blood is placed in a highly specialised, state of the art system: this system will extract the PRP from the rest of the blood in a safe, sterile manner. This is then injected into the areas that require tissue remodelling and rejuvenation.

Is PRP safe?

PRP is derived from your own blood and so you are using your own booster cells to repair and improve your skin quality and texture with profound effects on the appearance of the skin, making it much tighter, and brighter with fewer wrinkles.

Which areas can be treated with PRP?

You can use PRP to target the skin in any area but at our clinic we have found that its most effective when used to treat:

  • Wrinkled skin on the neck and décolletage
  • Ageing of the hands
  • Lines and puffiness around the eyes
  • Rejuvenation of lips
  • Acne scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Hair loss – Significant results for hair restoration
  • Scar revision stretch marks

Is there any discomfort during PRP?

Each patient has a different pain threshold. Dr. Saleki will use a topical anaesthetic to ease your comfort during the PRP treatment – most clients find this treatment to be pain free.

How long will the treatment last?

The processing of your PRP will take 20 minutes and the procedure will take on average 45 -60 minutes, depending on the area been treated.

What is the downtime of PRP?

PRP injections may bring about the possibility of developing a tiny bruise, especially on the needle's entry point. Some patients may also experience slight swelling. The absorption with PRP is achieved in as little as 24 hours. With all of these things considered, it can be said that PRP injection downtime can range anywhere from 1-3 days.

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different, therefore it depends on the individual skin type and area being treated.
However, you can have PRP treatments every 2-3 weeks or so. By stacking this needling in a series of 2-3 weeks, there is an additive effect in collagen production and contraction. Usually after 8-12 weeks, the real result is seen, and it is recommended that you have a single maintenance session every 4- 5 months.

Can I have PRP if I get Botox and Fillers?

Yes, it is a good combination to choose. PRP two weeks after Botox or fillers is ideal, as the collagen production of PRP enhances the healing of wrinkled lines and the new collagen production and remodelling of collagen for constant improvement of skin texture and appearance.

What should I avoid before and after the treatment?

We often discourage consumption of alcohol 12 hours before and after your treatment. Smoking should be avoided 6 hours before and after your treatment. Both these factors affect the likelihood of you bruising. Other things to avoid are hot showers, saunas as well as exercise for 24 hours and avoid sunbathing or sunbeds for up to 7 days.
